Stop Being Lazy!
2 Timothy 4:1-5
1 In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge:2 Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction.3 For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.4 They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.5 But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.
Sometimes I go through seasons when God continues to speak the same message to me over and over. You would think I would take the hint but sometimes, I'm a knucklehead. Recently, God was speaking to me about faith. It was in my writing for the small group, it was in my pastor's message on Sunday, it was in the podcasts I listen to, it was all over social media teachers I follow. God hit that message home for me. Currently, God is speaking to me about being more bold in my teaching of scripture.
My husband, who works for a delivery company, is pretty much a ghost during Christmas. It's called peak season and he works ridiculous hours. One thing about Come Together is that we always break during his peak season so we can make the most of the time he does have home. That is the closest we have to an "out of season." But I would not really say it is an out of season. For me, it is a refill period when God always pours in about what is to come in the next year. For some reason, God has called simple me to teach women how to grow their faith. To do that, I have learned that there is no in or out season. It is constant.
I am so thankful for the women this group has brought to my life. They speak into me just as much (sometimes more) than I speak into them. It is important to have women in your life that will speak truth, preach the word, into you on a regular basis. And as soon as you have a foundation in scripture, it is just as important for you to speak into others. Don't be a lazy christian, the world has enough of those. We need to be a bold, evangelistic, loving church in order to reach the hurting world.
